Abstract Topics

The theme of ICOPA 2022 is ‘Living with Parasites’, which encompasses all aspects of parasitology – yes, definitely including your research focus!

For structuring the main lines of the scientific program, the Scientific Committee has identified the following topics that will guide arranging the presentations into thematically focused sessions. When submitting your abstract, you will be asked to select among these topics – and you can always select ‘other’. You will also be asked to provide keywords, which further help the Scientific Committee in finding the optimal spotlight for your presentation

  1. Living with parasites. Consider submitting your abstract to this track, if your work has a crosscutting content and/or does not fit one of the other tracks. Examples of topics include One Health, UN sustainability goals, Food- and water-borne parasites, and many more. We will arrange the abstracts into thematically focused sessions, and to help us doing that, please select one of the topics below (if in doubt, select “Other”):
    1. Living with parasites, living without parasites
    2. Climate change, changing world, biodiversity, environments, sustainability
    3. Ecology, evolution, host-parasite interactions
    4. One Health, multidisciplinary, cross-border, cross-species, cross-cutting
    5. Other studies related to living with parasites
  2. Parasites of humans. Consider submitting your abstract to this track, if your work is on any aspect of research relating to parasites of humans. This includes basic parasitology, immunology studies, studies of prevention, treatment, and control, diagnosis, pathology, intermediate hosts, vectors etc., as well as work in experimental animal models, in vitro and in silico It includes epidemiological studies including surveys, surveillance and outbreak studies and covers both zoonotic and non-zoonotic diseases. We will arrange the abstracts into thematically focused sessions, and to help us doing that, please select the topic on the list below, where you feel your abstract fits best (if in doubt, select “Other”):
    1. Malaria
    2. Schistosomiasis
    3. Intestinal parasitic diseases
    4. Other neglected parasitic diseases (e.g., Leishmaniasis, toxoplasmosis, echinococcosis)
    5. Other studies related to parasites of humans
  3. Parasites of domestic and wild animals. Consider submitting your abstract to this track, if your work is on any aspect of parasites or parasitic diseases of these hosts. This includes work in relation to topics mentioned below, including intermediate hosts, vectors, vector-borne diseases, and experimental animal models, as well as in vitro and in silico studies. We will arrange the abstracts into thematically focused sessions, and to help us doing that, please select the topic on the list below, where you feel your abstract fit best (if in doubt, select “Other”):
    1. Diagnostics, phylogeny and genomics
    2. Epidemiology, pathology and impact
    3. Immunology, immunity and vaccine development
    4. Prevention and treatment, drug resistance
    5. Parasitic zoonoses and vector-borne diseases
    6. Other studies related to parasites of domestic and wild animals
  4. Parasites of fish. Consider submitting your abstract to this track, if your work is on any aspect of research relating to parasites of fish. This includes work in experimental models, studies of prevention, drugs, treatment, pathology, intermediate hosts etc, as well as in vitro and in silico studies. We will arrange the abstracts into thematically focused sessions, and to help us doing that, please select the topic on the list below, where you feel your abstract fit best (if in doubt, select “Other”):
